Auckland City Council Manufacturing Consent

This is how Auckland City Council manufactures consent.

Consultation on plans to remove cars from High St. have met stern resistance from local businesses. To counter this the council seeks input from the public. This public 'consultation' is occurring in the tent at the right in this clip and the findings will be summarised in the council's business case.

Today is international Park(ing) Day. A day when braindead hippies place pot plants in car parking spaces and then ritualistically cavort around them. This year Auckland Council celebrated Park(ing) Day in, you guessed it, High St.

After the parking space cavorting a free concert was held in Freyberg Square, with a band playing bogan music. And right beside the bogan concert is Auckland City Council's little booth, collecting views about pedestrianisation their report will claim are representative of public opinion.
