Thanks for the plug, Simon - but just so no one gets disappointed if they ever meet me, I'm in no way "drop dead gorgeous" - lol! Simon's being very flattering - but who am I to tell him what he can and can't say :-) What I am is an older woman who's found her stride in the third era of her life, and if anything makes me "gorgeous", it's that I've left behind much of my youthful angst, and I walk in the light of my own path now. Seeing as Simon's already generously given me some promo, I'll just put the link in to my own Substack here (cheers again, Simon) - https://aboldwoman.substack.com/

About subject of 'wokery' in France, I don't know enough in general to push back on your comments that there isn't wokery there in the way we know it, however, I do know that transgenderism has risen its ugly head there, too, and women have suffered as a consequence of it.

Question for you Simon. Given that Paris has a bit of history as a city where major acts of terrorism have occurred (usually leftist or religious driven) and also the political events of the last few days and the very clear lean to the right that French people are taking, how do you think the Olympics will fare? They start at the end of next month and it would seem to me there is a very real threat of terrorism in some form rearing its ugly head in Paris? Would love to know if you have an opinion on this. Cheers Dave

G'day Dave,

Yes there's been a fair bit of comment aorund the widsom of holding a contentious election a week out from the Games.

I perceive two potential issues. (1) Political violence, demonstrations, riots and (2) Terrorist attack. I think the former is most likely to come from the aggrieved Left (for example, in the traditional "Banlieue Rouge" of the north of the city and the latter, unfortunately, from Islamists.

However, France has been planning for the games for a long time and they are actually very very good at security. We often lack an appreciation in our part of the world for the true might of the French state. They can deploy A LOT of personnel and materiel extremely rapidly.

Thanks for your insight Simon. I've always thought the French were an interesting lot. They are capable of stunning brilliance at times but then are equally capable monumental failure and l mean that across the board, sport, military, politics even. Lets just hope their military is at its sharpest, so to speak, over the Olympic period. Cheers Dave
